Will GPS-RTK work in this yard

Hi,

I’m considering building an at dumpster but wanted to see if I should go with the RTK option with the tress in my yard. I’m worried I won’t have great accuracy with this setup. Any recommendations would be appreciated.F1953F6D-9E5B-4FCD-A16C-BA578244B3BA.jpeg

Hi mfethe,
the RTK Signal is not the problem, Ardusimple have wrote for the Long Range kit till to 10km on free fields. The most problem is if the Ardumower did get a stable GPS signal. RTK/GPS need two GPS receiver, on which is fix installed in your garden and one which is installed on the Ardumower. Somebody here in the forum did have also high trees, but they use not the patch GPS antenna, they use the Survey GNSS Multigand antenna Survey GNSS Multiband antenna (IP66), 123,03 € (marotronics.de)

The most probrlem for the GPS signal is a tall house wall or if the high trees in a group.

Actually you can rent the Alfred mower for testing. Leihgerät – Alfred (marotronics.de)

Thanks for your answer, I found the GNSS option in the site but don’t see the patch antenna for the LR option. Does that come with the GPS-RTK long range kit? Or do I need to purchase the GNSS one you recommend and follow the other forums post? Again thank you for you recommendation.
I plan on trying this with the LR system since it seems to be the best approach.

If you will order the LR option, then the patch antenna is standard. You have to order the GNSS antenna extra. The GNSS antenna did have a better receiver, more db as the patch antenna. The GNSS antenna can be helpful on the Ardumower to receive a better GPS signal. For the RTK/GPS basestation, the patch Antenna is enoug if you mount it on a good place with 135° sight to sky.

I hope my english is not so bad for you. But I am not perfect...

Thanks again for the suggestions. If I go with the GNSS antenna, do I need the LR system at all then? That would save a lot of money. The top of my house should have a great GPS signal and I’ve check my whole yard, which also gets a strong signal even under the trees. I have areas that have open sight to sky so I’m not too worried about the base station.

Danke for your help and your English is great!

The LR system is the best communication solution for the RTK signal (more powerful and so a larger range). LR set from the marotronics shop is configurated and ready to start. You get two patch antennas, two Xbees boards.
